WhatsApp Business API
What is the WhatsApp Business API?
Watsy's shared number versus your company's own number, and when you need each.
The WhatsApp Business API (also called the WhatsApp Cloud API) is Meta's official way to send messages from software instead of the phone app. Verification codes go out as authentication templates that Meta approves in advance.
Two ways to send with Watsy
| Watsy's shared number | Your own number | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | None, works right away | Connect a WhatsApp Business account in the dashboard |
| Sender name | Watsy | Your company name and logo |
| Billing | Message price from your Watsy balance | Meta bills your account directly; we charge a small service fee per code |
| Incoming replies | Not available to you | Shown in the dashboard inbox |
Once connected, your number becomes the default sender for the WhatsApp step of the chain, provided there is an approved authentication template in the message language. Without one, or if the connection has expired, we send from Watsy's number automatically so nothing stops.
In responses, attempts from your number show the provider whatsapp_own, and attempts from Watsy's number show meta_cloud.
